Where do I find information on subscriptions, shipping & purchasing?
Please see our FAQ page for all these things!
What material is your wipes made out of and how eco friendly is it?
We use viscose material (FSC®MIX certified) which is derived from cellulose fibers and is therefore safe for the environment by being 100% biodegradable and compostable in proper soil conditions.
Do you test for harmful chemicals in your wipes?
We believe you deserve full transparency regarding the ingredients that come in contact with your child’s skin. Independent chemical testing is performed by Eurofins laboratory. The results are published on our website here. We have chosen an extensive list of harmful chemicals to test for, including some common PFAS (there are thousands of different types and it is very hard to test for all of them).
Are your ingredients suitable for rash-prone skin?
We have carefully chosen the ingredients in our wipes to deliver the most effective, non-toxic solution available. We challenge anyone to show us a better option – seriously, we would like to know! The Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep cosmetics database shows our ingredients to be extremely safe and non-irritating – check out www.ewg.org/skindeep.
What is Silver Dihydrogen Citrate and is it completely safe to use on my baby?
Silver Dihydrogen Citrate (SDC) is a new and extremely effective bacteria-fighting preservative – used by only the most advanced product designers. A preservative is essential to use in any moist environment that can be a breeding ground for germs. SDC is absolutely safe for your baby – other brands often use questionable preservatives to guarantee the shelf life. We encourage you to do your own research, but a good place to start is the EWG Skin Deep cosmetic ingredients database at www.ewg.org/skindeep – SDC is given the best possible rating on this site. Furthermore, the World Health Organization (WHO) has assessed the safety of using silver compounds to sanitize drinking water – their results found no toxic effects from exposure. The EU’s Scientific Committee on Consumer Products performed a scientific review and also found SDC to be non-toxic and non-irritating from either oral or dermal exposure.
Does Silver Dihydrogen Citrate contain nanoparticles?
We asked our supplier this very question before we made the decision to use SDC. The response from the manufacturer of SDC they use was as below:
SDC is an aqueous liquid comprised of ionic silver and citric acid in water. SDC does not contain nanoscale particles or any silver with a dimension between 1 and 100 nanometers, nor is SDC considered nanotechnology. SDC does not contain particles; SDC contains silver ions, stabilized as silver dihydrogen citrate, therefore, evaluation of particle size is not relevant. The radius of the silver atom, since it is an atom, is approximately 1.65 angstrom. Silver ions stabilized as silver dihydrogen citrate obviously also are in the same range. This is the same as naturally occurs for silver ions and is not intentionally manufactured to be nanoscale. Neither SDC, nor SILVÉRION 2400, meet the definition of a nanomaterial as set forth by the European Cosmetics Regulation, which defines a nanomaterial as, “an insoluble or biopersistant and intentionally manufactured material with one or more external dimensions, or an internal structure, on the scale from 1 to 100 nm”.
What is the expiry date for your wipes?
Our manufacturer suggests a shelf life of 3 years from date of manufacture, offering plenty of time.
Where are your wipes manufactured?
Our wipes are made by an advanced manufacturer in China with extensive experience supplying the most demanding customers globally.
How is the water in your wipes purified?
City water goes through an intense multi-step process of purification, including Ultraviolet (UV) Irradiation, Reverse Osmosis and Electro Deionization. These methods neutralize adverse chemicals, heavy metals, chlorine and other pollutants, while killing bacteria and other microorganisms – making the water 100% safe for our use.
Are your wipes free of any testing on animals and vegan?
All Joonya products are vegan and free of any testing on animals. Joonya is proud to be certified by PETA (peta.org).
Are your wipes flushable?
Do not flush Joonya wipes, even if they are compostable. They should only be disposed of through home composting or general waste (in a hygienic manner).
Is your wipes packaging recyclable?
The soft plastic part of our packaging is made from a combination of polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) and due to its softness not many waste recycling programs accept it, though it is worth checking with your local council as there are special facilities sometimes available for soft plastics. The lid on our wipes is made from hard PP and can be put in the regular plastic recycling bin.
What does the Dermatest seal mean?
The DERMATEST®seal confirms that our wipes do not cause skin irritation or hypersensitivity to the skin after dermatological testing. Products certified with this seal keep the promise of tested and confirmed quality. The test procedure involved the wipes being applied to the skin of 30 panelists via an occlusive patch. In this test panel there were people with very dry, oily, normal and sensitive skin. The skin is checked at 24, 48 and 72 hour intervals. In conclusion, all 30 panelists experienced ‘no reaction’ to the test sample. For more information on Dermatest check out www.dermatest.com.
Can I wipe mess from my baby's face and hands with your wipes?
Cleaning hands and wiping mess off your baby’s face is fine to do with our wipes. If you want to be super cautious beforehand you could try wiping a small part of baby’s face and wait a few minutes to see if there is any reaction. A very small minority of babies frequently have reactions to new chemicals, even safe ones like in our wipes.
What type of citric acid do you use?
We use a high quality international supplier of raw ingredients to supply our citric acid anhydrous. It is derived from corn and is GMO free.
